Some journalists met my spiritual father years ago and asked; “You are doing great work here, but we don’t know you. Please allow us to blow you.” He smiled and responded; “As tiny as I am, if you blow me, nothing would remain.” He told them; “I know what I’m doing, and God knows what I’m doing. That’s enough.” He decided to keep his focus.

Friend, learn to steward greatness (Philippians 2:5-11). Many people desire greatness, but not many would taste it because their heart is wrong. God will test your heart before He determines your harvests. If you like, keep sowing and labouring tirelessly. If your heart is wrong, your harvest won’t match. God is the one who controls the law of seed time and harvest (Genesis 8:22, Luke 10:2).

Anyone who can handle greatness with humility is already a candidate for the same (Philippians 2:8-9). Anyone who does so much but talks so little about it would experience lasting greatness with God. Anyone who refuses the temptation to let people know that he’s doing something would do much for God. God would check your motive (Jeremiah 17:9-10).

It is amazing that what most people would do in the future is already showing in their lives today (Luke 16;10-12). This is why God wants to work on you before He works through you. He wants to purge your heart. He wants to adjust your perspective. He wants to break your ego. He wants to make you into the man who can handle greatness (Matthew 4:19).

Impact is more potent when it is silent (Esther 10:3). Greatness is attractive when it does not exert itself. Like Jesus, decide not to let your voice be heard in the street. Learn to decipher between healthy publicity and self-promotion (Isaiah 42:2). At the end of the day, it is whom God commands men to hear that they would hear, not the one blaring all around the place (Matthew 17:5).

God already knows what each of us would do with greatness (John 2:24). He knows that some pastors would start preaching nonsense when they have global recognition. He knows some men would marry another wife with more money. He knows you would stop praying when you eventually get to the top of your field. You need to prove Him wrong (2 Chronicles 16:9).
