A man of God heard some noise in his sitting room. He was sleeping upstairs with his family. When he looked downstairs, he saw some demons playing around his sitting room. He just hissed and went back to sleep. According to him; “This little devil is not worth giving up my sleep.” He learnt to ignore.

Friend, you must learn to ignore. Your success or failure in life is determined by who and what you give attention to (Acts 20:24). For example, if you pay attention to every noise or call in the market, you won’t get back home on time. You may even get back home with the wrong item that you are not planning to buy (1 Kings 20:40).

The devil advertises things to you by suggesting them (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). Until you pause and give him attention, he would not succeed in pushing them into your life. In the spirit, what you give attention to becomes a force that rules your life. This is why the Bible admonishes us to give attention to God’s words and incline our ears to His sayings (Proverbs 4:20).

Don’t give the devil too much attention (Luke 13:31-33). While would you pray for one hour and 45 minutes out of the prayer time is spent on the devil? Prayer is primarily meant to be a fellowship between you and God. It is not supposed to be a battle between you and the devil (Matthew 6:9). When you approach prayer as a fellowship with God, you allow Him to direct you on how to go about it.

Sometimes, God leads you to address the devil, pray for people, or simply spend time worshipping Him (Romans 8:14). The moment you allow the devil to dictate the tone and direction of your prayer, you have made him your god. When you wake up at night to pray, spend time fellowshipping with God and not dealing with the devil. Learn to ignore the devil and focus on God (Philippians 3:10).

Don’t give the wrong people or things too much attention in your life (SoS 2:15). Who or what you give your attention to matters. Some people don’t deserve your response, ignore them. Some don’t understand your purpose; ignore them. Like Sanballat and Tobiah, some people are out there to distract you on the journey of purpose and destiny (Nehemiah 2:19, 4:3). Learn to ignore them.
