I heard a statement the other day from a renowned man of God, and it resonated with my scriptural understanding and philosophy about life. It goes thus; “Attitude is more important than facts.” I believe this understanding will help you too. You need to work on your attitude as you navigate life and fulfil destiny.

Friend, attitude is more important than facts. Facts are what they are. They are not truth (John 17:17). If you live your life based on the fact, you would give the devil the opportunity to play with your emotions. Whereas facts are what we can see, hear, or feel in the physical, the truth is what God says in His word concerning our lives and situations (Isaiah 8:20).

Attitude speaks to the way you perceive and respond to things (2 Corinthians 4:16-18). It is not what happens to us that matters. It is what happens in us, and our response to what is happening. Some people have a wrong attitude towards what is happening, while others have the right attitude (Micah 7:8). The former are often stuck while the latter always come out on top.

If you check the letters that make up the spelling of attitude, you would notice they all add up to 100 if you map each letter to their numerical equivalent. This tells us that attitude makes for hundred per cent (Philippians 4:6-8). Most times, we work on our skills, gifts, knowledge, abilities, etc. But until you work on your attitude, all of these would amount to nothing.

A great skill with the wrong attitude won’t fly (SoS 2:15). What progress have you made this year? What area of your life is a bad attitude hindering your progress? How are you responding to what is happening to you? You need to train yourself to respond based on what you know is true, not based on the facts that are staring at you (2 Corinthians 5:7).

We must have a Christ-like attitude (Philippians 2:5). How did Jesus face life and situations? What does the Bible teach about our approach and attitude to life? Until the word of God affects your attitude to life, you have not started learning Christ (Ephesians 4:20). Ultimately, our Christianity is seen in how we respond to people and situations.
