I once read something interesting about one of the leading footballers of our time. It was said that at age 36, he has the body of a 26-year old. According to reports, he restricts himself to certain kinds of foods and also maintains some strict discipline daily. When I watch him play, I see someone who is not leaving the game anytime soon.
Friend, every destiny calls for some forms of demands. When you embrace God’s purpose for your life, you have automatically embraced the consecration that comes with it. Some people only see consecration as “running away from sin.” This is true. But it goes beyond this. Consecration is separating yourself from whatever would limit or hinder you from fulfilling destiny.
Perhaps, like Samson’s parents, the smartest question parents can ask God about their children is their consecration term (Judges 13:12). If you don’t have parents who ask or know your consecration term, take up the responsibility to find out for yourself.
No two destiny is the same so our consecration terms would not be the same. What is allowed for others might be a sin for you (1 Corinthians 6:12-13). Stop comparing yourself with others (2 Corinthians 10:12). That others are doing something does not mean you should do it.
Destiny is like pregnancy, nobody can carry it for you (Luke 12:50). It is one thing to desire greatness, it is another to give yourself to the duties that greatness demands (1 Corinthians 9:27). There is a yoke you need to take upon yourself if you would enter into your rest in God and in destiny (Lamentations 3:27, Matthew 11:29).
Every man of destiny needs a pacer, a coach; someone whom God has assigned to put you through the schedule of life and activities that would birth your destiny (2 Timothy 2:3). Who is pacing you? Who is supervising your destiny program under God (Esther 2:5-7, 4:14)? How are yielded are you? Stop fighting what God has ordained to make you.
