An athlete once led a marathon from the beginning but stopped to wave at the crowd near the end and lost the race. He had momentum but did not sustain it. In destiny, it is not enough to start strong. You must stay driven till the end.
Friend, don’t lose your drive. Momentum is vital in the pursuit of destiny. People begin to backslide without knowing it when they lose momentum and drive. It is not enough to have a purpose. You must be purpose-driven (Acts 26:19). Momentum helps you to accomplish more for God and to stay in purpose and on purpose for Him.
How would people describe your drive (2 Kings 9:20)? Jehu was known for being highly driven and passionate. Could the same be said of you? Jehu accomplished so much for God in his days. He completed many assignments that Elijah could not finish, even though he was not Elijah’s direct successor (2 Kings 9:30-37).
Zeal is crucial if you must stay in divine purpose (2 Kings 10:16). Paul lamented that Israel had zeal without knowledge, but today, many Christians have knowledge without zeal (Romans 10:1-2, John 2:13-17). They know so much but do very little. Knowledge without zeal will make you a spectator instead of a participant.
*Backsliding begins when momentum is lost.? Consistency is the key to sustaining fire. Do not stop doing what you used to do for God (Revelation 2:4-5). God’s problem with the Laodicean church was loss of momentum. They became lukewarm, neither hot nor cold (Revelation 3:14-16). God cannot use a lukewarm believer effectively.
What has mixed with your fire to make you lukewarm (Hosea 7:8-9)? Many can tell stories of how God used them on campus and how they burned for God in their youth. Some pastors talk about when they uaed to be anointed (Job 29:1-6). They backslid because they failed to sustain momentum (Romans 12:11). Refuse to lose your fire.
