Years ago, I was invited to minister in a church. I poured my heart to bless the congregation. As the pastor spoke powerfully about the grace upon my life, the atmosphere shifted with honour, reverence, and expectation, and the service ended with deep impact and many testimonies.

Friend, you need to honour the grace that God sent to you. Really, men of God carry grace. When God is set to transform your life, He brings you closer to His prophet (2 Kings 4:8, 2 Chronicles 20:20). Avoid unnecessary distance between yourself and your man of God.

Not everyone recognizes grace when it crosses their path (2 Kings 4:9). Most carriers of grace don’t look extraordinary, so you need spiritual discernment to identify them (2 Corinthians 5:16). Ask God to open your eyes to see beyond outward appearances.

If you cannot relate rightly to the human side of your man of God, you will miss his spiritual impartation (Mark 6:3). Many people have no issue believing in anointing they don’t know personally; the challenge comes when it’s someone familiar — a sibling, a childhood friend, a spouse, or even their own pastor (Mark 6:4).

Not everyone is sent to you. But you must receive the one sent to you as YOUR man of God (Matthew 15:24, Luke 4:25-26). The other sons of the prophets regarded Elijah as Elisha’s man of God, not theirs — and that’s why they didn’t receive the double portion like Elisha did (2 Kings 2:6, 12).

The closer God brings you to an anointed vessel, the more you should pray against familiarity. Familiarity is a direct attack on the anointing. This is why many pastors often see greater results with visitors than with their own members (Mark 6:1-6). Make a decision today to perceive, receive, and honour your man of God.
