A man of God told us about his son who wanted powdered milk. They prayed about it, and soon, someone brought evaporated milk instead. The boy looked at it and said, “That’s not what I asked for.” He waited on God for the exact thing. Not long after, packs of powdered milk arrived at the door.
Friend, one of the things you should never outgrow is childlike faith (Luke 18:17). A childlike faith is simple trust. It doesn’t argue with God or wait for all the details before saying yes. Children don’t calculate if their father can catch them when they jump — they just leap (Matthew 18:3).
We all began life with that kind of trust. But as we grow older, we trade trust for analysis (Proverbs 3:5). Disappointment teaches us to be careful and realistic. But God never asked us to understand everything before we believe (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith is not the absence of questions; it’s the presence of trust despite them.
Childlike faith doesn’t mean you’re naive. It means you’ve decided God’s word is heavier than your circumstances (Romans 3:4). It means you believe He is who He says He is, even when the evidence looks late (Hebrews 11:1, 6). It’s the kind of faith that says “God said it, so that settles it.”
A childlike faith is the kind of faith that unlocks what logic can’t (John 11:40). It’s the posture that moves God’s hand because it agrees with His heart. Jesus healed, fed, and raised the dead for people who simply believed He could (Matthew 9:29).
Logic focuses on obstacles. Faith focuses on God.
Don’t outgrow childlike faith. Don’t let maturity rob you of that raw dependence (Philippians 3:10-14). You don’t outgrow needing God — you grow into needing Him more consciously.
Guard your faith like a child guards their father’s hand in a crowd (Joshua 1:9). Hold on, and refuse to let go until you see what He promised.
