About sixteen years ago, he joined me for fathering, much younger at the time. Now, he’s grown, navigated life’s seasons, and still following. Through it all, he has proven his heart and loyalty, making tremendous progress in life and destiny. His was an example of the biblical Timothy. But where are the Timothys today?

Friend, God is in need of Timothys today. The world says, “Imitation is limitation,” but Scripture says it is the secret to becoming (John 1:12, 1 Corinthians 11:1). God gives us fathers in the Kingdom to help fulfil destiny. By following them in God’s light, we become what He has ordained (Hebrews 13:7, 17).

Timothys are extenders of God’s work on earth (Philippians 2:19-22). The devil fights following to disrupt God’s plan, which is meant to flow through generations (Psalms 48:13, 78:1-8). Gaps in following lead to gaps in wisdom, grace, and glory.

Following is not folly; it is wisdom in disguise. Don’t let others mock what God is using to make you (2 Kings 2:1-3). In every field; doctors, lawyers, traders, etc., following is important. Yet, in the Church, it is often resisted (2 Corinthians 12:18).

We all have trapped potential for leadership and greatness, unleashed through the right following. Timothy’s apostolic grace was unleashed by following Paul (Acts 16:1-5, 1 Timothy 3:15). He went from errand boy to mighty bishop (Philippians 2:22).

Who is that person who can call you “my son” not just “our brother” (1 Timothy 1:2, 1 Corinthians 16:12)? Timothy showed loyalty and continuity amidst contradictions (2 Timothy 4:9-16, Philippians 1:1). He served his father, with his father, and in his destiny. Where are the Timothys today?
