That year, I was excited when my daughter told me she was handed the microphone to lead worship at the school assembly. But the next day, she said she’d deliberately not stand at the front to avoid being called upon. When asked why, she cited nervousness from her previous experience. I used the opportunity to teach her about embracing responsibility.
Friend, you need to embrace responsibility. Responsibility shapes and makes us (1 Samuel 17:33-36). Your current capacity is tied to responsibilities you have taken on over the years. We are products of our journeys. How we handle opportunities determines where we are today (Psalms 78:70-72).
Responsibility means responding to ability. You’ve got latent abilities waiting to be unleashed (2 Timothy 1:6). Responsibility is the medium for realizing them. Those who run from it don’t amount to much. They would miss the opportunity for growth and greatness.
Responsibility is also about response-ability – the ability to respond rather than react (Isaiah 6:8). Others see opportunities where you see burdens (Acts 13:36). They see chances to release potential and fulfil destiny. They embrace what you are running away from.
Stop running from responsibility. Stop complaining that you are being used – it’s because you are useful (Matthew 25:24-30). Don’t let others mock what God is using to make you. Get involved. Be responsible. Unleash your capacity for greatness.
Passivity is an assassin of destiny (Amos 6:1). Sometimes, people won’t ask you to do stuff. You will have to rise and do it. Stop waiting to be hired. Volunteer somewhere (Matthew 20:6-7). Volunteer your time, skill, energy, etc. Stop wasting away when destiny is waiting.
