A young Christian businessman messaged me some time ago and said: “I envy someone like you who has stepped into their calling on time. I’m still doing business, and I don’t know when I’d step into my calling.” I felt led to respond: “Don’t wait to fulfil your calling. That business could be a platform for your calling. Pray to discover and align yourself with it.”
Friend, you need to discover the calling within your career and business (Genesis 45:7, 50:20). Many people mistakenly wait until they’ve finished their business or career before pursuing their calling. Unfortunately, that moment may never come. Delaying your calling for career or business can lead to regret (Isaiah 49:1-4).
The enemy wants you to prioritize wealth and success over your divine call (2 Timothy 4:10-11). He wants to distract you from your eternal purpose. Don’t see your career or business as an enemy of your calling. Rather, maximize the opportunity to use your career or business for God’s purpose (Colossians 4:14).
Don’t compare yourself to others; focus on your own calling (2 Corinthians 10:12). Don’t delay; answer God’s call now. Don’t live in regret. Walk with and work for God with the remainder of your life. Paul didn’t let past mistakes define him; he pursued his calling (Acts 9:6). Like Paul, you need to ask Jesus, “What would you have me do?”
You are saved for a purpose (2 Timothy 1:9). Living without fulfilling your calling can lead to regret. God is not opposed to your career or success; He wants you to use it for His purpose. You can fulfil God’s call while engaging in career or business. You only need to find the connection and work in alignment (Philemon 1:6).
Like Esther, you have a purpose in your position (Esther 4:14-16). Like Joseph and Daniel, you may have a calling in government. Like Luke, God may want you to use your profession to advance His purpose. God gives His children opportunities in the world to advance His agenda. What you do with it is crucial (Colossians 4:17).
