A man of God asked his congregation, “Who will be the first to go home to the Lord this year? Raise your hand if you think it might be you.” One woman, still half-asleep, raised her hand, not realizing what she was acknowledging. Tragically, she was the first to pass away that year.

Friend, there are no casual moments in destiny. Every moment counts, and you must make them count in your life (Psalm 90:12). Pray that you don’t sleep the sleep of death. People sleep the sleep of death when they don’t take charge of their lives, becoming casual about serious things (Ephesians 5:14-15).

Eutychus was in a divine place but was overtaken by the natural. He was overcome by sleep (Acts 20:7-12). He decided to sit on the fence during church service. Don’t sit on the fence. Let your position and motion be defined per time. Don’t be casual about important things in life (Hebrews 12:16).

It matters what you say, even if you don’t mean it (Ecclesiastes 5:6). That woman was the first to die that year because she unconsciously signed up for death. When James and John, the sons of Zebedee, told Jesus they would drink the cup and go through the baptism, they didn’t know they were signing up for early death (Matthew 20:20-23).

James was the first target of Herod, but divine assignment preserved John (John 19:26-27, Acts 12:1-2). Divine assignment is what delivers from satanic appointments. Either you allow God to engage you, or you give the devil permission to entangle you. Walk with and work for God this year. Redeem the time. Understand God’s will for your life (Ephesians 5:15-17).

Learn to cancel every negative seed you’ve unconsciously sowed in prayer (Isaiah 54:17). Use the law of seed time and harvest to your advantage. Activate supernatural forces to work in your favour by learning to use words correctly. This year, don’t be casual. Be intentional (Proverbs 6:6-11). Amen.
