One of the things my children love to do is compare their ages with their classmates. You would hear them say stuff like; “So and so is not yet five, and I’m already five.” Or something like; “I’m the youngest among everyone.” I constantly try my best to supply them the right perspective on such issues. I tell them; “You don’t have a mate.”

Friend, you don’t have a mate as far as destiny is concerned. The truth is, you might be an agemate, classmate, playmate, etc., but you are not destiny mate with anyone. Your destiny is unique. Even if you are born as a twin, you don’t have a twin destiny (Genesis 25:23). You have a unique identity before God and a unique destiny in life (Jeremiah 1:4-5).

Life becomes a distraction when we begin to compare ourselves with other people (2 Corinthians 10:12). Once the devil gets you into comparison and competition, he has already found a tool to demobilise you in life. You cannot move at God’s speed if you keep looking at what others are doing and comparing it with yours (John 21:21-22).

Men of purpose are men of focus. You must focus until you become the focus (Matthew 6:22, Philippians 3:14). You must be so comfortable with your unique destiny that you don’t get swept by the waves of distractions prevalent in our day. You must run your unique race without getting swamped in the rat race going on in the world (Joel 2:7-8).

Divine speed is not measured by who is ahead of you or behind you. It is measured by where God wants you to be per time (1 Corinthians 15:8). Sometimes, those whom you think are far ahead may not be close to where you are as far as the accuracy of divine pursuit is concerned. True speed is in the accuracy of purpose and direction (Galatians 1:15-24).

You don’t have a mate. Stop saying all your mates are married, all your mates have travelled out of the country, all your mates are pastoring big churches. Such thinking puts you under unnecessary pressures that rob you of the joy of life and living (Isaiah 28:16). You are in a process with God. Enjoy where you are on the road to where you are going.
