I heard the story of a man who went to measure the crusade tent of a healing Evangelist in America. He told his builder to erect something bigger than the Evangelist’s. He thought he could do better than the Evangelist. What he failed to realise is that the grace cannot be copied.
Friend, you cannot copy grace. Although grace can be transferred, we must understand the protocol and process involved in the transfer. Such processes must be void of envy and competition (James 3:14-18). You cannot copy the manifestation in another person’s life (Hebrews 11:29). You can only walk the road they walked.
When you see grace at work in a man, your first response should be to acknowledge the grace and celebrate it (Galatians 2:9). Then, ask relevant questions, either from God or the carrier of such grace. The truth is, anyone who has grace in an area sure knows something you don’t know. There is something he carries that you lack.
Walk your own process with God (2 Peter 1:1-10). Don’t jump the gun. Like someone rightly said, you cannot get by covetousness what someone got by consecration. It is the road that makes the man, not the status. Stop looking at men from where they are and start looking at them from where they are coming from (Philippians 2:5-13).
Grace transfer answers to knowledge, not emotion (2 Peter 1:2). What you don’t know, you cannot show. If you don’t have it, you don’t have it. Wait until you have it. Understand the limit of your grace (2 Peter 3:15-18). You cannot become more than God has allocated for you in the economy of grace, but you can be lesser (1 Corinthians 15:9-10).
Stop faking it, or else you won’t make it. Find your place of grace and educate it. Things work easily for you in the area where God’s grace has been dispensed in your life. You would only struggle trying to function where God’s grace does not cover for you. Stop trying to copy grace. Rather, find your area of grace and grow there (2 Peter 3:18). You will succeed.
