I made a practice of having one on one interactions with every of our first-time guests after they have settled in Church. My usual statements to them is this; “I have your details with me, but beyond this, I want to know you personally. I want to assure you that you are not just a face in the crowd. You are important.” I notice they always brighten up when I speak such words.
Friend, you are not just a face in the crowd. God knows you. He knows your name (Isaiah 43:1, Luke 19:5). He thinks about you. He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Out of the eight billion souls on the earth, you are special to God (Isaiah 49:16). God relates with you as though you are the only one on earth. You are that special.
If you were the only sinner on earth, Jesus would still have died. He did not die for an imaginary world, He died for you (John 3:16). When He was walking to Golgotha, He was thinking about you (Matthew 27:33-35). He was not thinking about a geographical world, He was thinking about the you in the world. He was thinking about your world; your eternity and all there is to you (Romans 8:31-37).
If you were to visit God’s throne room where prayers are received and answered, you would notice that you are the only one there. If all the eight billion souls were to offer prayers to God at the same time, God hears you distinctively (Hebrews 4:15-16). God does not have to ask you to hold on till He finishes answering others. You are that personal and special to God.
Do you feel alone and lonely? Do you feel nobody cares for you? Do you actually feel like a face in the crowd? A number in the statistics? A dot in the massive work of art or earth? Listen, you are not a face in the crowd. God is working in your life as He is working on the earth. You are the object of His program and operations on the earth (Jeremiah 1:4-5, Romans 8:28).
Don’t feel lost in the crowd. Identify with the thoughts of God towards you (Jeremiah 29:11). Do away with negative thoughts and feelings. Care less about who knows or does not know you, who likes or does not like you, what you have or lack. Focus on the One who gave it all up because of you (Romans 5:8). Let Him capture your heart. Be consumed by His love. Pursue His highest purpose for your life. You will succeed!
