During a tour of NASA headquarters in 1961, John F. Kennedy encountered a janitor mopping the floors. “Why are you working so late?” Kennedy asked. “Mr President,” the janitor responded, “I’m helping put a man on the moon.” This janitor knew that he was doing a great work, despite the nature of his work.

Friend, you are doing a great work! Like Nehemiah, don’t let anyone belittle your work (Nehemiah 4:1-6, 6:2-3). Dear Wife, continue to stay in and give your best to that marriage. You are doing a great work! Dear Business Owner, even if you are not making big or any profit yet in that business, don’t give up. You are doing a great work!

Dear Pastor, continue to give your best to that flock under your care. You are doing a great work! Dear Student, even if your performance seems not to be commensurate with your efforts, don’t be discouraged. Keep giving your best (Galatians 6:7-9). You are doing a great work! Dear Employee, continue to give your best to that job even though it’s not yours. You are doing a great work!

Dear Intercessor, even if you have not heard ‘amazing testimonies’ about your intercession, don’t stop interceding. You are doing a great work! Dear Church Member and Worker, even if nobody seems to value or appreciate your presence and contributions to that Church or ministry, don’t stop giving your best (1 Corinthians 15:58). You are doing a great work!

Dear School Teacher, even if you keep receiving complaints and discouraging remarks despite your efforts over those students, don’t give up. Don’t be discouraged (Acts 20:24). Keep giving your best. You are doing a great work! Dear Civil Servant, even if nobody seems to be noticing your dedication to duty and service despite your meagre salary, don’t give up. Don’t compromise (Colossians 3:23-24). You are doing a great work!

If you would last, if you would finish well and strong, then stop looking for compliments and applauds too early. Don’t look for awards or rewards too early. Don’t measure your life and work by the comments and likes you get on social media. Rather, measure it by how effectively you are living your life under God discharging the burden He’s giving you per time (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Don’t forget that “Big shots are small shots that keep shooting until they become BIG!” Don’t come down! Don’t let the work cease. Stay focused (2 Timothy 4:6-8). Have a correct estimation of yourself and your work. Receive encouragement for your tired hands! Silence the voices of Sanballat and Tobiah in your life and destiny! Don’t let the work cease. Fulfil your God-given destiny.
