We had some hitches on the road as we travelled out of the city that weekend. We needed to get to a mechanic shop and fixed the car before we could proceed with the journey. But I noticed that my younger daughter was asleep in the car all through the challenges we faced. She chose to rest instead of worry.

Friend, the attitude of a child is that of rest. In this Kingdom, rest is our inheritance, rest is our attitude, rest is our lifestyle (Hebrews 4:9). Why worry when you can rest? Rest is not just a state of external quietness or a position of sleep; you can be on bed and not be at rest. Rest is a state of internal quietness and assurance of faith in your heart that God’s got it all in control (Mark 4:38).

“…This is the rest wherewith you may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing…” (Isaiah 28:12). Rest is the atmosphere for the supernatural. When you are at rest, God is at work. But when you are under pressure and in agitation, you are invariably telling God to give way for you. The first miracle that God performed with man happened when Adam was asleep (Genesis 2:21-22). The miracles of God in our lives today will happen when we are at sleep; in a state of rest and stillness (Psalms 46:10).

“…for the Lord gives to his loved ones in sleep” (Psalms 127:2). God does not only give sound sleep as we have interpreted this scripture to mean; God gives His beloved while they sleep. This must be your posture as a believer. What others are running helter-skelter to get, God gives us while we rest. The curse of fruitless labour has been taken care of by Jesus; you need to know how to step into it (Genesis 3:17-19, Psalms 127:1-2, Galatians 3:13-14).

Whatever affects your peace would determine your victory. In the midst of all that is happening, locate your peace. Peace remains our anchor in the midst of life’s challenges. Peace is not the absence of challenges but the assurance of God’s presence despite the challenges. You get into peace when you meditate on God’s word and get into fellowship and prayers (Colossians 3:15-16, Philippians 4:6-7).

God wants us to receive the Kingdom as a child because children don’t get bothered about what is happening around (Mark 10:13-16). The sense of their father’s love and ability override the threat in the environment. This is how you should live this season. Know that God loves you and He is using all of His power to your advantage. You need not fear or be disturbed. Rest assured that God’s got it all in control. You are safe, secure and supplied in God. Hallelujah! Amen!
