A woman shared her numerous blessings with her pastor, including international trips, cars, and business successes. After listening, the pastor was prompted by the Holy Spirit to ask, ‘Praise God for these, but what’s one thing you have that an unbeliever doesn’t?’ This question made her realize she wasn’t prioritizing true wealth.

Friend, you need to prioritize true wealth. True wealth is seen in your relationship with God (Jeremiah 9:23-24). A man who knows God is truly a wealthy man. Some people are so poor that the only thing they have is money. The least form of wealth is money. Joseph had no money, yet he was prosperous (Genesis 39:2).

You need to locate God before you can safely talk about financial prosperity (Matthew 6:33). It is dangerous to teach money and material possessions to those who have not been to the cross. Money can either make you more greedy or more godly (Luke 12:13-21). We are to serve God and use money and not use God and serve money. Money is only a tool.

When Peter stated that he did not have silver or gold, he was not saying he’s financially poor. He was only telling us what He prioritised in his life (Acts 3:6). If your confidence is in money, you are truly a poor man. Your confidence must be in God and His power in your life. With this, you would live above and beyond money (Job 22:21-25).

If you pursue money at the expense of your relationship with God, you are not wealthy (1 Timothy 6:10-12). Any job or business that would reduce you spiritually or make you compromise your faith is not worth it. The Partriachs did not pursue money. They simply pursued God and the covenant side of their walk with Him (Genesis 14:21-24). That’s true wealth.

Your spiritual life is the real capital for life and destiny (Jeremiah 17:5-10). As you walk with God, He gives you wisdom to convert spiritual capital to material substance. He helps you maximise opportunities. He causes His favour to flavour your labour. He gives you strength to produce and enjoy results (Psalm 127:1-2). This is true wealth.
