My spiritual father shared a story with us years ago. He was ministering in a meeting in a particular city. After the ministration, a much older minister of God met him with a lamentation. According to the man; “I started ministry with so and so, but I have nothing to show for my labours. I never packaged my anointing to last.”
Friend, the anointing is like rain. No matter how heavily it rains, if you have nothing to trap the rain, after sometime, people will never know it ever rained. Wise people have learnt to trap their anointing and package it to last. Every genuine calling or anointing is transgenerational; it is meant to outlive the carrier.
As a seed of Abraham and child of God, your calling must be global, eternal and generational. God does not want you to be a one generation wonder. He wants your life and impact to outlive you. You are ordained to be a joy of many generations but you would determine how many the many generations would be (Isaiah 60:15).
Jacob dug a well that outlived him. He did something in his generation that, 400 years after, was still impacting people (John 4:7-14). This is a testimony of a destiny that outlived a man. God wants us to impact generations yet unborn (Psalms 78:1-7).
You must provide the right structure and system to trap the manifestations of God in your life (2 Kings 4:3). Journal divine moves and experiences in your life. Write a book. Record that song that came to you in the bathroom. As a pastor, record your messages. Put those seminar notes into a book or material. Don’t waste your anointing.
Perhaps, the greatest legacy you can leave behind is not building but people (Acts 4:13). As a parent, invest in your children. As a pastor, build people. Jesus spent His life raising people. Today, His mandate lives on and is ever strong. People are the best transporters and extenders of your life and vision. Invest in people.
