My younger daughter is fond of asking this question; “Daddy, is tomorrow my birthday?” as she looks forward to her next birthday. The countdown and expectation are always high as she relishes how the day will look like; picture taking, family outing, gifts and beautiful celebration. She knows the power of a birthday celebration. Actually, today is her fourth birthday anniversary!

Friend, do you know the power of a birthday? Actually, there are different birthdays in a man’s life, only that most people are used to just one – the day of their physical birth. While physical birth is important, it is only an entry or a foundation for other kinds of births. If the only birthday you know is the physical birth, you are not going to live a fulfilled life.

“…Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). I love when people celebrate their physical birthday but I love it more when people celebrate their spiritual birthday – the day they gave their life to Jesus. The day you gave your life to Jesus is the day you began to truly live. Anyone who is not born again is a living corpse; this is one truth the devil will not let you realize. Life truly begins when you meet Jesus (John 1:4).

“…You are my son, today have I begotten you” (Psalms 2:7). There is yet another birthday; it is the day you stepped into divine destiny. Destiny is like pregnancy waiting to be birthed. While some are living God’s dream for them, others are still carrying perpetual pregnancies about. The day you discover and yield to divine destiny is a very important day of your life that is worth celebrating.

You are saved for purpose and destiny. God apprehended you for a reason and until you start to live for that purpose you have not started to live (Jeremiah 3:3-5, Philippians 3:10-14, 2 Timothy 1:9). Let me ask you today; “who are you living for; self, devil or God?” Until you connect your existence here on earth to an eternal purpose you are only counting years and not truly living (Acts 13:36).

There are other things that must be birthed in and through your life (2 Kings 19:3). You should be able to tie specific dates and anniversaries to the birth of greatness locked within you. What are those dreams, ideas, ministries, gifting and divine pregnancies locked within you? What are you doing to release yourself for their birth? Ephraim behaved stupid at the place of birth and he lost out in destiny (Hosea 13:13). May this not be your portion!
