My son taught me a lesson. Whenever I send him to his mum or sisters, he never goes in his own name. He would say, “Mummy, Daddy said you should give me biscuits.” He knows that his request may be denied, but not when it comes in my name. He has learnt how to get results using my name.
Friend, do you know how to get results in the name of Jesus (Colossians 3:17)? The name of Jesus is the believer’s greatest asset, yet many don’t know how to use it. Many trust their gifts and anointing while ignoring the name. In reality, it is the name that makes the gifts and abilities work (Acts 3:16).
If all you have is the name of Jesus, you have all you need (Acts 3:6). With that name, Peter commanded the lame man to walk. Notice that the enemies’ problem was not just the preaching; they warned them never to speak again in that name (Acts 4:16-18). The enemy knows the power in that name. Do you?
Like my son, never trust your words above His name. Don’t trust your ability or eloquence (Psalm 20:7-8). Don’t trust your certificates, experience, or wisdom. Trust in His name. Demons recognise it (Acts 19:13-15). Circumstances bow to it. That name is above all names.
All the names of God are wrapped up in Jesus. In the Old Testament, they called Him Jireh, Rapha, etc. for specific needs, but we call Jesus for every need (Acts 4:12). Inside His name is healing, provision, protection, peace, and victory. His name is your access to all that God is (Philippians 2:9-11).
God does not answer us because of us. He answers because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross (Hebrews 10:19-20). That is why we pray in the name of Jesus. It is approaching God based on what Christ has done. You can mention the name without trusting the access it gives (John 16:23-24). That is why many prayers go unanswered. Go in His name!
