One of the ways I learnt focus is from driving. Everyone on the road is moving to different places, for different purposes and with different attitudes. While some would always want to overtake you for no reason, others seem to just be cruising round the road, just enjoying the ride. In all, I have learnt to stay focused on the peculiarity of my journey. There is no need for comparison.
Friend, our purpose or destiny is individualistic so there must be no room for comparison. Our times and seasons are different (Psalms 31:15). One way to miss your own destiny is by checking what God is doing with your neighbour (John 21:21-22). Our race is personal and unique to us. Our paths and processes are also going to be different.
That God is using you now does not mean that others around you are useless. And that God is not using you now does not mean that He has no plan for your life (Galatians 2:8). You can be in a season of hiding when your friends are in a season of showing (1 Kings 17:3, 18:1, Luke 1:80). You might be in a season of sowing seeds of preparations while your ‘mates’ are in a season of harvests and manifestations (Genesis 8:22).
You must know where you are in the program of God for your life and stay put to it, following God and fulfilling destiny. The truth is, if we all follow God in precision and accuracy, we would all get to our destinations in God, no matter who seem to have gone ahead (Hebrews 12:1-2). Sometimes, key players in a competition are reserved for critical moments of the game (1 Corinthians 15:8-10).
That God is not using you now may mean that you are part of the finishing generation reserved for critical moments of God’s purpose and plan. You need to stop the comparison and competition. You need to stop seeing yourself as being worthless or useless. You need to follow God’s plan for your own life; follow His training, process, program and schedules, while you fulfil your ultimate calling (Acts 26:19).
For those who seem to be at the forefront of divine activities, learn from Jesus’ response to Peter (John 21:21-22). Other people are “none of your business.” Don’t look down on others. Don’t be proud. Don’t walk in presumption. God’s unique purpose is your business; follow it (2 Timothy 4:6-8). Sometimes, the first shall be the last and the last shall be the first (Matthew 19:30). May you not miss your ultimate destiny in Jesus name!
