We have different canes around the house to the needful when my children misbehave. Sometimes, we would just notice that all the canes have disappeared. For obvious reason, it would take forever for my children to bring one anytime I ask them to. One day, I caught my younger daughter hiding one of the canes. I told her; “Stop hiding Daddy’s cane.”

Friend, stop hiding Daddy’s cane. Learn to live a life that is open to divine correction. This was the difference between David and Saul (1 Samuel 15:30, 2 Samuel 12:13). With God, wanting to be right is more important than being right. The rod and the staff must comfort you if you hope to fulfil destiny (Psalms 23:4).

Until you are corrected your life cannot be correct. The corrected man is better than the smart man. God is looking for broken men, not smart men (Isaiah 66:1-2). He is looking for yieldedness, not perfection; perfect hearts, not perfect acts. Your openness to correction is a revelation of your heart before God.

The proof of love is correction (Hebrews 12:6-11). The opposite of love is not hatred; it is indifference. Don’t compartmentalise your relationship with God. Lay everything bear before Him (Psalms 51:6). Don’t be living in sin, ignoring divine corrections and still be asking God to bless you. God can bless you, and yet, not pleased with your lifestyle (1 Kings 3:1-15).

Recognise the instruments that God uses to correct and mold you per time. Most of us will not see God face to face to correct us. He would use His words to do so (2 Timothy 3:16). Those scriptures you read that make you see yourself in the light of God’s demands are agents of correction.

God will use human beings to correct you (2 Samuel 12:1-15). It is amazing how some people claim to hear God when they don’t listen to their pastor. You cannot claim you are in obedience to the God you cannot see when you are in clear disobedience to human authority (Psalms 141:5, Luke 2:51). Stop arguing with the person whose correction and molding you should submit to.
