One of our young men in church got a fantastic job years ago. According to him; “I ran into an old school mate while I was running errands for pastor in church. Meeting him connected me to the job that would change my life forever.” His testimony inspired my heart about how service impacts destiny.

Friend, service impacts destiny (Job 36:11). If you don’t serve, you would miss a critical part of your destiny of greatness. A lot of people have missed karios moments in destiny because of their refusal to serve (Ecclesiastes 9:11-12). Some have a wrong attitude towards service; they serve to be seen, not to contribute.

Wherever you find yourself and at every season of your life, learn to identify what God is doing and join yourself to it (Acts 8:29). There is no place for loafers and complainers in the kingdom. There is no place for critics and commentators. Once you join yourself actively to a service point somewhere, you won’t have time and energy to criticise (Nehemiah 6:3).

Most of the people who achieved greatness in the Bible were routed into it via service. It was through service that Jesus achieved greatness on earth (Philippians 2:5-11). It was through service that Joseph became a prime minister (Genesis 41:9-14). David became God’s choice through service (Psalms 78:70-72). Saul was looking for his father’s donkey when he met with greatness (1 Samuel 9:15-16). Elisha poured water on Elijah’s hands (2 Kings 3:11).

I have not seen anyone carry authentic grace in life who did not serve. I have carefully watched people’s attitude towards service in church, and I have almost always accurately predicted their end. It is not magic. It is a kingdom principle (Matthew 23:11). It is service that defines you. It is service that distinguishes you. It is service that empowers you for relevance.

Like that young man in our opening story, run errands (Acts 16:1-5). Be available for service in your home and family. Serve in your local church. Contribute significantly to the growth of the company where you work. Don’t just collect salary. Impact the system for good. God has arranged that your paths will only cross with greatness when you are out there serving the will of God in your generation (Acts 13:36). Amen.
