As the flood took over the whole region, the emergency agency came in to rescue the victims. But their advice is something that stuck to me; “let those who are yet to be affected by the flood move to uplands. Let them relocate to higher grounds.” That’s a life lesson for all of us today.
Friend, there is a higher ground where you can get strength and safety in the midst of all that life throws at you. It is advisable to locate your higher ground before life happens (Psalms 46:1). Floods don’t come announced. Where you are would determine what becomes of you. There is a higher ground.
Is your soul currently overwhelmed? Are you tired of life? Does it look like you can’t seem to hold it all together? Are you under some kind of pressure? Don’t worry. David once found himself there (1 Samuel 30:6). Most great people have been there one time or the other. What’s their response? They were led to the rock that is higher than they (Psalms 61:2).
There is a Rock that is higher than what life throws at you. That Rock is Christ (1 Corinthians 10:4). We can run to Him and find shelter in the midst of storms (Psalms 18:10). In Christ, we find comfort and encouragement (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). He remains our anchor that holds our soul (Hebrews 6:19-20). He is the higher ground. All other grounds are sinking sand.
Get unto your higher ground in prayers. In prayers, we have an opportunity to leverage God’s Grace in the race of life (Hebrews 4:15-16). In prayers, we are shielded from the floods (Psalms 27:5). In prayers, we gain perspective and direction (Habakkuk 2:1). In prayers, we experience God’s priceless presence.
Like Job, the devil wants you to curse God when you cannot seem to make sense out of what is happening to you (Job 2:9-10). See, there are things you would never understand. But understand that God is faithful; He’s always with you (Hebrews 13:5-6). Leverage critical relationships too at this time (1 Samuel 22:23). Isolation is dangerous when life hits (Judges 18:28). May you never walk alone. Amen!
