Recently, our Church members had a surprise birthday celebration for my wife at her place of work. They went there with cake, gifts, music band and all that. While the gesture was very touching and encouraging to my wife, our members were also touched by the testimonies they heard from my wife’s Boss and colleagues. According to them; “Mummy is a Christian at work.”

Friend, are you a Christian at work? The best place to check who a Christian is, is not in Church, at prayer meeting or Sunday service. It is at home, at work, at the place where life happens. The fruits of the Spirit are not developed or displayed at Church; they are seen at work (Matthew 7:16-20).

God wants us to be marketplace evangelists. He wants us to be people who carry the message of Jesus to a dying world. We would do this, not just by preaching it, but by living it. The people with whom we relate must see Jesus in us. They don’t have to follow us to Church to know who God looks like; they should see Him in and through us (John 14:7-12).

The Church is the place where we are equipped for ministry, the world is the place where we discharge ministry (Mark 16:15, Ephesians 4:11-12). If what you receive in Church on Sunday cannot be seen in your life on Monday, you have not attended Church, you are only another religious fanatic.

People will not be won just by our Christianese; they would be won by the kingdom life we model before them. Christians must show the world that our God is not a mediocre God. He can make fine shoes or dress. He can produce the best teacher in school, raise role model business people, best students on campuses, and the most diligent staff in companies (Proverbs 22:29).

Never use Christianity as an excuse for mediocrity. Never throw Jesus’ worthy name in the mud (Romans 2:24). Don’t become the reason someone would not serve Jesus. Let your life and excellence point people to Jesus. Let your testimony at work be louder than the one you share in Church. Let your light shine before men (Matthew 5:16).
