We were taking some mangoes at home recently. As my daughter battled to “finish” the whole thing, she came to me with an observation. She said; “Daddy, I think mango cannot finish. This mango seed is not like orange seed; it’s so big. “Her observation taught me a lesson about faith.

Friend, you don’t need a mango seed faith to move mountains, you only need a mustard seed faith (Matthew 17:20). Why would Jesus use mustard seed of all seeds to describe faith? Jesus could have used mango seed, but why mustard seed? I thought when his disciples asked him to increase their faith, He would do just that. But He did not (Luke 17:5-6).

What makes faith to work is not its size but its use. If you like, pray from now till tomorrow that your faith should increase if you ain’t doing nothing with it, that prayer is useless (James 2:18). Actually, faith is not increased by prayer; it is increased by action. Prayer only energizes you to use your faith. It does not increase it. In prayers, we build up ourselves in the use of our faith (Jude 1:20).

At salvation, God has dealt with everyone the measure of faith but what you do with that measure is what determines your outcome in life (Romans 12:3, Ephesians 2:8). You don’t increase your faith by saving it, you increase it by using It.* what you don’t use you would soon lose. God wants us to bring results with what He has given us, not making excuses (Matthew 25:24-30).

Just the way you have a bank account for life’s project, your also need to have a faith account for destiny fulfilment. You need to pay attention to your faith account. We can only face the Goliaths of life with the faith we have exercised as we face the Lion and the Bear (1 Samuel 17:34-37).As you plan to use your faith to get a car, use it to secure transport fare first. That way, your faith would grow.

God will always give us opportunities to use our faith. But most times, we chicken out and look for alternatives. One of the enemies of faith is bail out. Sometimes, our best friends are not those who come to bail us out of divine process, but those who encourage us to develop our faith to go through the same. If David had been prevented from facing the Lion and Bear, he would have been an utter failure when he faced Goliath.
