A woman had a health issue and needed healing. Her church invited a guest minister known for healing. After the service, the pastor asked, “Did you receive your healing?” She replied, “I left early. He was too proud. How can he say God gave him a special anointing?” She left sick because she refused the anointed.
Friend, learn to receive the anointed (Matthew 10:41). Many people want the anointing but reject the vessel. You cannot separate the oil from the bottle God chose (2 Chronicles 20:20). Until you honour the person God sends, you will miss what God is sending.
It must be “Jesus of Nazareth,” not “Jesus of heaven” (Acts 10:38). In His day, people rejected Jesus because of His hometown. It’s the same today. We prefer a “mysterious” minister from far away to one from our street or village (Numbers 12:1-9). Familiarity blinds us to grace.
God tests us by the people He uses (Mark 6:1-5). It’s easy to believe in “the God of the man.” But will you believe “the man of God?” If you cannot receive his humanity, you won’t receive his divinity. Even Jesus’ brothers struggled with Him at first because they knew Him as family (John 7:1-5).
God does not ask your permission before He calls anyone (John 15:16-19). Often He anoints the very people we look down on. We accept anointing from strangers, but not from those we know (1 Samuel 15:28). We love mystery in ministry more than truth in ministry.
What you need may be in the hands of someone you don’t like (1 Kings 22:7-8). The training you need may be with the pastor you don’t like. People don’t consider if they liked a doctor so far he has the cure they need. Why do we act emotional or carnal about spiritual things (1 Corinthians 3:4)? Receive God’s choice, not just your preference.
