We had some rats on rampage in our apartment for some days. As usual, we decided to set some rat poisons. My children would tell me they saw the rats partying on the poisons. For days, we didn’t see them again, dead or alive. I was almost concluding the poison wasn’t effective until a day later; we began to see dead rats at different corners. It did not happen immediately but it happened ultimately.
Friend, life is governed by the law of cause and effect. Nothing just happens, things are made to happen. Sometimes, people know how to blame some unseen forces for their outcomes in life. We fail to realize that God has placed laws that govern operations on the earth; you cannot break the law of seedtime and harvest as long as you are on the earth (Genesis 8:22).
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest…shall not cease” (Genesis 8:22). The distance between seed and harvest is time. Sometimes, the length or duration of time makes people to forget that a law is in operation. The fact that it did not happen immediately does not mean that it would not happen ultimately. It is cause and effect.
Not all good or wrong deeds receive immediate compensation or consequence (1 Timothy 5:24-25). The fact that it did not manifest now does not mean that it would be hidden. You cannot take rat poison and expect to continue living healthily. You cannot engage in gossips and backbiting and expect to be healthy spiritually or emotionally (Psalms 15:1-3).
Be careful of the law you set in motion on the spiritual side of your life this year. Let me repeat; nothing just happens, things are made to happen (Psalms 126:5-6). Our actions and sometimes, inactions, are seeds waiting to bring harvests into our lives. If you don’t like the harvest you are getting, change your seeds.
There are positive things you do that look like a waste of time. You need to be reminded that it may be demanding but you would doubtlessly return with harvests (Psalms 126:6). You must not be weary in well-doing (Galatians 6:9). You must not be discouraged that it is not happening immediately. Know that it would happen ultimately. Amen!
