While exiting the campus gate that year after a really challenging examination week, one of my departmental mates approached me with these words; “Pastor, how far with today’s papers? Are you sure we are going to scale through?” I responded; “I have already passed.” The confidence with which I responded stemmed from my understanding of Christ’s finished work.

Friend, when Christ said it is finished, it actually and truly means IT IS FINISHED (John 19:30). Nothing can be added to what Christ has done and what He has done, nobody can undo. This is why you can live the reality of God’s kingdom and enjoy the blessings of the same. When all is finished, there is nothing else to do than to believe that it has been finished (John 6:28-29).

Legalism is trying to do what Christ has done (Galatians 3:3). Hypergrace is you refusing to do nothing because of what Christ has done. What Christ has done empowers to do what we need to do to appropriate what Christ has done. KNOWING WHAT TO DO TO APPROPRIATE WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE IS THE CORRECT GOSPEL MESSAGE (Acts 16:30, Romans 10:9-10).

We are to function from a place of rest. Rest is not a physical state of idleness, it is a state of knowledge and assurance in the completeness and validity of what Christ has done. Rest is believing and functioning from Christ’s finished work, not your effort (Matthew 11:28-30, Hebrews 4:9-11).

GOD DOES NOT OPERATE IN AN EMERGENCY MODE. NOTHING CATCHES HIM UNAWARES (Romans 8:28). Jesus’ death and resurrection is not God’s response to what Adam did, it is actually a provision made ahead for what Adam would do. Jesus is the lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). The works were finished from the foundation of the world (Hebrews 4:3).

“O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you…(Galatians 3:1)? BEWARE OF BEWITCHMENT. BEWARE OF DISTORTED TEACHINGS. BEWARE OF SATANIC MANIPULATIONS AND ENTANGLEMENTS (Galatians 5:1). Beware of the cunning craftiness of men. Your Faith must stand only on the finished work (1 Corinthians 2:5). WHEN CHRIST SAID IT IS FINISHED, HE MEANT IT. BUT DO YOU BELIEVE IT (Isaiah 53:1)?
