While my younger daughter stretched her legs on the couch and rested her back on me, she kept repeating these words; “This is my father’s sitting room. I can stretch my legs and do what I like.” I got interested in her reason for such confession, so I asked her mum for a clue. The mum responded; “When pupils sit like that in their school, the teacher would ask; “Are you in your Dad’s sitting room?” She got the idea from there.”

Friend, do you know your Father’s House (Luke 15:17)? Do you know that it is Freedom House (2 Corinthians 3:17)? Do you know that you can bask in joy and confidence as my daughter? Do you know you can be free without any aorta of condemnation (Romans 8:1)? Do you know you can express yourself without fear of punishment (1 John 4:18)?

Like my daughter, do you know you can rest on your Dad and be confidently declaring your right in the house? Oh, I love my daughter’s understanding and audacity. Nobody can bully or mesmerise her. No, she knows her father’s house. Much more, she knows her father (Luke 10:22). She is not afraid. She knows her right. She enjoys her privileges.

My daughter knows to tell the devil what she knows and how she feels (John 8:32). She is not economising freedom and redemption. She is living the life to the full. She is a portrait of a well taught New Testament believer. She knows freedom. She has seen freedom. She enjoys freedom. She confesses freedom (John 8:36). What about you?

Notice that Jesus also spoke about My Father’s House (John 14:2)? I know we can argue the truth around that verse or chapter but let’s, for once, think about the implication of My Father’s House. Jesus knew He has a Father and that the Father has a house. The Father’s house is the most important house in scriptures.

Without understanding the Father’s House, you cannot appreciate the Potters House (Jeremiah 18:1-6). Love is what makes training and moulding enjoyable. Oh, I train my daughters. I discipline them. I subject them to processes that would help them develop well. It may seem difficult but they enjoy it because they understand the father’s house and they know the father’s love (Hebrews 12:5-13). What about you?
