After preaching on a particular Sunday in church, I concluded with a prophetic word: “Go and sell.” Remarkably, that week brought incredible sales testimonies from our members in business. They experienced unprecedented success, earning significant profits. It’s time for you to take action – go and sell!
Friend, you need to go and sell. It is my firm belief that nobody can reach their destiny of greatness without being a business person somewhere (Luke 2:49). Everybody must know how to sell. Your success or prosperity is determined by your ability to sell. What are you selling? How are you selling? This is not first about being in business full-time (Luke 19:13).
The first thing you should know how to sell is yourself (Proverbs 23:7). Sadly, not many people know how to sell themselves. Many people often talk down on themselves. It is not humility when you always speak low of yourself. If you don’t know how to celebrate yourself, nobody else would. If you devalue yourself, nobody would raise your value for you (Philemon 1:6).
People buy into you before they buy what you are selling (1 Timothy 4:15-16). Know yourself well enough that you can sincerely and convincingly present yourself. If someone asks to meet you. They are not asking you to share your problem. They want you to share your value. What value are you offering people (Judges 9:8-15)?
More important than acquiring skills is being able to project your skills (1 Samuel 17:32-37). Unfortunately, many skilful people are getting peanuts in the market of life, whereas less skilled people with marketing skills are smiling to the bank (Ecclesiastes 10:10, 15). This is why footballers and music artists often have managers.
Beyond what you wrote on your CV, what can you say about yourself and what you do (Romans 11:13)? Preaching the gospel is about selling. What can you say about God from His word that would compel others to get saved (Acts 26:19-29)? I know you have a great vision, but the way you communicate it matters. People would first buy into you before they buy into your vision. Go and sell.
