There were fears I helped my daughters to conquer on time. One of such is the fear of darkness. There was a day I walked them through a dark space and told them; “There’s nothing to be afraid of here.” At another time, I told one of them; “You know the answer to that question, say it out. Don’t be afraid.” I understand that fear cripples destiny.

Friend, fear cripples destiny. Just as a man of faith activates the power of God on his behalf, a man of fear activates the power of the devil (2 Timothy 1:7). When faith is at work, creativity and initiative are evident but when fear is at work, initiative is crippled, ideas are paralysed and greatness is aborted (Matthew 25:24-25).

Fear is not real. Most times, what you are afraid of is also afraid of you. It’s only waiting for your action or reaction (1 Samuel 4:5-10). When you fail to act in faith, fear takes over. But when you act in faith, you see how cheap the devil is. Until the devil gets you into the zone of fear, he does not have a legal ground on your life (1 Peter 5:8-9).

There are some people who have the fear of the past. Some have the fear of failure while others have the fear of the unknown. The greatest fear is the fear of death. Christ has delivered us from the fear of death (Hebrews 2:14-15). With the understanding of redemption, you can overcome your past and face the future with certainty and audacity (2 Timothy 1:12).

You may not know what the future holds but you sure know He who holds the future (Jeremiah 29:11, 1 Corinthians 2:9). You must see God as the future knower, the future owner and the future holder. Know that your life and future are secure in Him. God is not asking you to perform; He is only asking you to believe. He is the performer, you are the believer (Luke 1:45).

Your greatness is on the other side of fear (2 Kings 7:1-16). Don’t let fear keep you from God’s best this year. Don’t let fear short-circuit the flow of God’s power in your life. Don’t let fear stop you from pursuing your God-given vision. Stand on God’s unfailingly promises to you in His word. Pray in the Spirit. Take bold steps. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the conquest of fear.
