“And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us” (Romans 5:5).

Expectation is the mother of manifestation. Job has this to say regrading expectations; “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me” (Job 3:25). Job always expected the worst. He always expected that things would not turn out right. He always hoped for the worst. He had this idea that one day, his business empire would crash. He was always afraid that one day his children would go wayward. In fact, the sacrifices he made for his children were mostly out of fear, not worship (Job 1:5). He later got what he expected.

Friend, what are you expecting? Are you expecting that #Covid-19 would soon catch up with you or members of your family? Are you expecting that the guy asking you out will eventually break up with you? Are you expecting that you may never give birth after you are married? Are you expecting the rest of year 2020 to turn out worse than how it started? You must review your expectation. Expectation, though silent and invisible, gives permission to unseen forces to work either for you or against you. Your expectation is the magnet that draws stuff to you, good or bad.

Now, take note of this; you cannot be neutral or passive as far as expectation is concerned. You know some people have this idea that, it is better to expect nothing so you won’t be disappointed when you get nothing. This may look sensible but it is not scriptural. Our expectation is still the scriptural foundation for divine manifestation in our lives (Ephesians 3:20). Our positive expectation commits God to act on our behalf, our negative expectations commit the devil to work on our behalf while our lack of expectation gives permission to life to treat us the way its wants to. Living life full of expectations is one way to take charge of your life and destiny.

Someone may want to ask, “what if I expect and it does not happen…?” Yes, you must keep expecting! That’s the beauty of hope! Hope is not a one time event but a life time virtue for victorious living. The Amplified version of Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask and keep on asking, seek and keep on seeking, knock and keep on knocking…” This is what hope is about, and this is how faith works. We must be prisoners of hope, we must “die there”, as we used to say on this side of the world. We must keep believing even in the face of contrary and disappointing situations.

May your expectations not be cut short in Jesus name!
