Over the years, I have carefully observed my children’s audacity to ask. They have taught me how to boldly ‘demand’ for what is (or can be) yours in life. Thanks to the school they attend. They were taught to “Soro soke” (speak up). Whether it is asking for their snacks, a portion of my meal or just about anything good and befitting for them; they have learnt to ask.

Friend, don’t stop asking. This may look simple or like something that needs not to be said. Well, if Jesus said, “So far you haven’t asked for anything in my name. Keep asking and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete” (John 16:24), then it means there is something about asking and there is a way to ask.

“Ask me for anything! I will give you nations. The whole world can be yours” (Psalms 2:8 Easy English). Can you see that? Can you beat that? This is God challenging you to ask. God is not afraid of your asking; He’s highly expectant of it. You cannot suck God dry; He is the “All-breasty One!” You cannot exhaust Him; He is the El-shaddai! He cannot be intimidated!

Your asking determines your joy (John 16:24). Are there areas of concern in your life? The secret is to ask! Are there stuff you are in need of? Ask! Are there areas you are not finding funny? Ask God for help. This is a Kingdom principle; “Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you” (Matthew 7:7 ISV).

Ask for what is yours. Make demands. Ask God in prayers. Don’t be afraid of asking people too. God has packaged your blessings in people. Asking people is not the same as begging; the attitude and posture defer. Don’t keep quiet. Don’t live on assumption. That widow in 2 Kings dared to ask, and she received more than she bargained for (2 Kings 8:1-6). Don’t joke with Holy Spirit inspired asking. Ask as led; God has gone ahead of you (1 Kings 17:8-16).

Why must you ask? Because all things have been provided for you in Christ. All things are yours (1 Corinthians 3:21)! Christ is the greatest gift that God would ever give you. With Him, God has given us freely all things (Romans 8:32). We have been given all things that pertain to life and godliness, because of Jesus (2 Peter 1:3). Go ahead and ask!
