I had attempted to leave our former denominational ministry six years before the appointed time. Thank God for my loving, sincere, and sensitive pastor who would not allow me to miss God’s plan for my life. When the perfect time came, it was obvious. Indeed, God makes everything beautiful in its time.
Friend, don’t move ahead of God. It is better to be behind God than to be ahead of Him. But it is best to move with God. One of the greatest evils you can do to yourself is to lack a sense of timing. There are two ancient Greek terms used for time; one is Chronos, and the other is Kairos. The chronos talks about “clock time” or “calendar time” from where we have “chronology” while kairos talks about the appropriate or opportuned time for things (1 Chronicles 12:32).
If I ask you, “What’s the time?” I’m not just asking what’s the calendar time, but what is that thing in your life whose appropriate, appointed, or opportune time has come? For example, today is Tuesday 12th November 2024 (which happens to be my 40th birthday), but today can be a day of salvation for you. It can be a day when God wants you to step into a particular dimension of your destiny (Luke 19:44).
When you know chronos without knowing and seizing karios, you would only be counting years without something serious counting for you in God and in destiny (Esther 4:14). Wisdom is only 20% decision, but 80% timing. Without accuracy of timing, there would not be accuracy of decision.
The burden of humans is knowing their time (Ecclesiastes 9:12). Actually, the best that a natural man knows is the calendar time (chronos). But there is an operation in God that can cause you to know your karios. The Holy Spirit sensitizes us to our kairos moments in destiny (Romans 8:14 MSG). There is a time to get married, start a business, church, or take specific destiny steps (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
A lot of people miss God by moving ahead of Him. The problem of Elisha with Gehazi is not about collecting stuff but collecting it at the wrong time (2 Kings 5:26). You must let God cure you of haste if you would not truncate your divine destiny (Isaiah 28:16). The fact that an idea is occurring to you now does not mean you should do it now. Things become beautiful when you submit to the timing of God.
