I started pastoring our campus fellowship in 200level. At our last Exco meeting for the tenure, an Exco member remarked; “I laughed when you were called as president, I didn’t believe you could lead us well, but I’ve been proven wrong.”

Well, I won’t blame this young man because I actually looked young and inexperienced. But the impact of the leadership spoke for itself; the fellowship grew by over 250% after my tenure! Impact in leadership is not in size but in result; your leadership would be proven over time.

Friend, you can be youthful and useful at the same time. That you are young does not mean that you cannot make a difference (1 Samuel 17:42). God specialises in using young and seemingly inconsequential people. He desires to take glory in people whom others think are not able (Psalms 8:2, 1 Corinthians 1:26-29). Never allow anyone to look down on you (1 Timothy 4:12).

It is normal for people to despise you because you are a youth, or because you look small and inconsequential, but you must learn never to despise yourself.’Joshua needed courage as a young man who just took over from Moses, the man of God (Joshua 1:6). David needed courage to face Goliath. Timothy needed courage to pastor the Church at Ephesus, you also need courage to step into your destiny.

I want you to make up your mind to step into your destiny this season; Go ahead and do the very things that others say you cannot do. Your doubters will soon change their mind when they see your results. But in proving your leadership mettle, you need to heed the counsel of Paul to Timothy to; “Meditate upon these things; give yourself wholly to them; that your profiting may appear to all” (1 Timothy 4:15). That is the secret!

You need to give yourself wholly to your task and your call. You need to commit and stay committed. You need to labour (1 Corinthians 15:10). You need to give the required diligence and pay the required prices (2 Peter 1:10). Whoever thinks or says you cannot, only need to give you an opportunity, and your commitment and dedication will prove them wrong. May you not be a disappointment to your generation in Jesus name! Amen!
