“The sun comes out from his home like a bridegroom. He is very happy to run fast, like a very strong man” (Psalms 19:5 ESV).

This 2nd half of the year, choose to be motivated. Go for motivation. Stay motivated on a daily basis. Go away from demotivators. Stop attending a Church that keeps dampening your morale and instilling fear in your heart. You know some people attend Church and they leave more discouraged than they came in. A great Church is one that lifts your spirit. It is one that is a fire lighter to your soul. It is one that empowers you to step into work on Monday and go all out to make things happen to the glory of God.

Listen, this is not about the kind of message that is preached but how it is preached. We can preach holiness so scripturally well that people are ‘motivated’ to go live the life of holiness or we can teach it with pseudo precision that people conclude that they can never measure up to God’s standard. We can teach against sin in a way that ‘motivates’ people to hate sin or teach it in a way that further causes people to romance it.

Repentance is not about feeling remorseful. It is about having a change of heart and behaviour, and nobody can truly change unless they are motivated to do so. People can weep, roll on the floor, feel so low, down, guilty and all that, yet they have not truly changed. In fact, they have been so preached to that they are too weak to rise up to go please God. When Apostle Peter was to preach people to repentance in Acts, he told them of a time of refreshing that was available in God (Acts 3:19). Nothing can so motivate people to get on board with God than that!

What am I saying today? You need a high doze of motivation to deliver your dreams and destiny this season. In a country like ours (Nigeria) when almost nothing is working; where you wake up daily with discouraging news, there can never be a better time for motivation and motivators than now. In a year where the first half have been very bad for most people, nothing else can turn the table around than the right motivation.

Yes, there is the right motivation and there is the wrong motivation. The right motivation is one that has understanding as the foundation while the wrong motivation is one that is only surface; without a strong foundation of deep understanding. Friend, you need to be rightly motivated. You need to take responsibility for your own motivation. Sometimes if you don’t motivate yourself nobody will.

The fact that you are demotivated is not because of the people or situations around you, it is because you have not learnt to motivate yourself. Like David, you must learn to ‘preach’ yourself; “Bless the Lord, oh my soul…” (Psalms 103:1). You must learn to motivate yourself. Like I tell people, you don’t have to wait to feel excited to act excited, you can excite yourself. You can motivate yourself. One of the signs of growth and maturity is that we don’t wait for our feelings to dictate our actions, rather we let our actions dictate our feeling. We don’t wait to feel like it before we act like it, we act like it before we feel like it.

May you learn to put your feelings behind your actions in Jesus name!
