As I reminisced about God’s call on my life, I remembered how I got the blue print of the ministry we now run some years ago. I initially planned praying for a few hours, but God demanded that I stayed longer. I would have missed out of divine call if I had not learnt the secret of waiting.
Friend, the call of God must be well understood and pursued if destiny will be fulfilled. Ignorance has killed more people than the worst kinds of diseases known to medicine (Hosea 4:6). Seeking knowledge is the first step to pursuing a divine call. This is why when Christ encountered Paul, He told him to go to Ananias to get enlightened (Acts 9:6-16).
The priority of God as far as His call on your life is concerned is intimacy, not activity (Mark 3:14). God is not first calling you to do something for Him but to be with Him. Answering the call to intimacy is the way to go. It is out of intimacy that the right ministry activities would flow (Jeremiah 23:18, 22). If you don’t pass the test of intimacy you cannot be trusted with the authority to drive the calling.
When God called Moses up the mount, it was first to be there (Exodus 24:12). Notice the progression in the above scripture. The last in the order of progression is teaching or ministry. A lot of people have made the last to be the first. We want to preach or teach without being there. Staying in God’s presence is necessary to allow you overcome haste. He that believes will not make haste (Isaiah 28:16).
Ministry is not for the hasty. God must first kill the drive for activities of ministry in you before He can allow you to launch out. No vision can truly live unless it has first died (John 12:24). It is in the process of waiting that the vision dies; you then come to realize that you can do nothing without God’s help and strength (Habakkuk 2:3, John 15:5).
There is a difference between divine direction and divine details. It is in waiting and intimacy that you get the details of your calling or vision (Galatians 1:15-21). You can get direction via a one-off encounter but you need a lifetime of intimacy with God to get details as the vision unfolds. Getting on the road of destiny without the right details is another recipe for confusion.
