My younger daughter no longer competes with her elder sister as to who dresses first for school. It was always a battle getting her dressed for school. She would literally cry anytime her sister finishes dressing before her. Now she tells me; “Daddy, I’m no longer competing with my sister.”I would respond with; “It’s because you are now a big girl.”
Friend, calling is not competition. Destiny is an individual race. Our focus is not on what others are doing or not doing. It is on what God has called us to do (John 21:20-22). We are not trying to be the best or beat the best, as some people would say. We are trying to be our best (Philippians 3:12-14). You can be the best and not be your best. When you are a success in the midst of failures or mediocre you are nothing but an upgraded fool.
One of the characteristics of God’s end time army is the focus they bring to bare on their lives and assignments (Joel 2:7).They would run on their lanes, they would walk on their paths, they will not break their ranks. Everyone knows what exactly it is that they have been called to do and stays focused on it without getting distracted. They know that, we may be on the same track or field of assignment but our race is different.
God is not going to use someone else’s marking scheme to mark your own scripts (Romans 14:4, 1 Corinthians 4:5). God will not judge you by what other people are doing. He would assess you based on what He calls you to do. The greatest tragedy in life is to come to the end of your life or journey only to discover that you have run another man’s race (Galatians 2:2, Philippians 2:16). Destiny is not about being the first, it is about being on track.
There are only two positions in the race of life and destiny; the first and the last (Matthew 19:30). There is no second or third. This means that we can all be first if we remain focused on our unique calling. Unfortunately, those who get distracted and dissuaded would end up being the last. Distraction comes when we look at what others are doing and stop working on our own field of assignment (SOS 1:6, John 21:20-22).
This generation is the most blessed generation but it is also the most endangered generation. Social media presence does not always equal real kingdom impact. Likes and comments on your online posts does not validate your call or assignment. While these could be leverages for the fulfilment of destiny, they can also be grave distractions if not checked. Focus on your peculiar assignment and wish others well (Galatians 2:6-10). Know this and know peace.
