Years ago, as a teenager, after making some money I could call mine, I entered a boutique to pick some wares. I had fantasized getting the wares for weeks. As I tried picking the ones I really loved, I heard the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit; “That’s not for you.”The Holy Spirit kept restraining me until He pointed the ones I could buy to me. That day, I learnt a major lesson on consecration.

Friend, you cannot fulfil divine call beyond your level of consecration. Consecration talks about separateness. It is about what you need to separate from for you to fulfil your destiny. Whereas, all believers have to separate from sin, not all consecration has to do with sin (2 Corinthians 6:17). You have not started your journey unto consecration if you are still arguing about sin or no sin.

In consecration, you understand that some things may not be sinful but they are evil for you as far as your peculiar destiny is concerned (1 Corinthians 6:12, 10:23). Others may but you cannot. You realize the weight of your destiny by the consecration that God demands from you.The demands of God on each one of us would defer. While God may seem to permit your friend to do some stuff, He may restrict you from the same (Daniel 1:8).

_”…how is the boy to live? What rules must he obey (Judges 13:12)?”_ Consecration talks to the rule of your life and destiny. It speaks to how your life should be ordered. A life without rule is a life without impact. Once you violate your rule of life, you begin to truncate your destiny without knowing. Samson broke all the rules of his consecration until he became broken (Judges 14:5-9).

You must look beyond the rules that men place around you to the demands that God is making of you. Sometimes, God will use people to keep us in consecration. Fighting such people or authority is fighting God without knowing. Jacob’s story began with “A certain man wrestled with him” but it ended with “I have seen God face to face…“Not only that, he became Israel after the encounter. He was now ready to fulfil his destiny (Genesis 32:24-32).

Consecration is the secret to power for your assignment. A lot of people are not as forceful as they should be in destiny, not because of lack of prayer, but because of lack of purity. Consecration has nothing to do with God but it has a lot do with you and your destiny. When God says be separate, He plans to make you the head in your generation (Genesis 49:22-26, 2 Corinthians 6:17).Will you obey Him?
