That year, members of our church surprised my wife with a birthday celebration at her workplace. They came with cake, gifts, a music band — the whole package. It was deeply touching for my wife. But what touched our members even more were the testimonies from her boss and colleagues. Their words were simple: “Mummy is a Christian at work.”
Friend, are you a Christian at work? The true test of who we are isn’t found in church, in a prayer meeting, or on Sunday morning. It is found at home, at work, and in the places where real life happens. The fruit of the Spirit doesn’t grow in the pew — it shows up on the job (Matthew 7:16-20).
God is calling us to be marketplace evangelists. He wants us to carry the message of Jesus into a world that’s hurting. We do that not only by preaching but also by living it. The people around us should see Jesus in us. They shouldn’t need to follow us to church to know what God is like — they should see Him in us (John 14:7-12).
The church is where we are equipped for ministry. The world is where we do ministry (Mark 16:15, Ephesians 4:11-12). If what you receive on Sunday isn’t visible in your life on Monday, then you didn’t go to church; you just attended a religious event.
People aren’t won over by religious language. They’re won over by a life that reflects the Kingdom. Christians must show the world that our God is not a God of mediocrity. He produces excellence. He can raise the finest tailor, the best teacher, top-performing students, outstanding business leaders, and the most diligent employees (Proverbs 22:29).
Don’t use Christianity as an excuse for mediocrity. Don’t drag the precious name of Jesus through the mud (Romans 2:24). Don’t be the reason someone walks away from Him. Let your life and your excellence point people to Jesus. Let your testimony at work speak louder than the one you give in church. Let your light shine before men (Matthew 5:16).
