We returned from a wedding event recently. While speaking with my older daughter, she said; “Next time, I would be the little bride.” My response to her struck a chord in me; “You can no longer be the little bride, you are older than a little bride. Only your younger sister can be.”

Friend, contrary to what a lot of people think, age is not just a number. There is something about age and destiny fulfilment. One thing I want you to know is that the Bible is not frivolous with numbers (2 Samuel 5:4). In fact, God is so particular about numbers and details that He dedicated a book in the Bible that is called The Book Of Numbers.

There must be something about age that is worth mentioning in the Bible. David was 30 years old when he stepped into kingship. Joseph was 30 when he stood before Pharaoh (Genesis 41:46). Jesus began public ministry at the age of about 30 (Luke 3:23). The sons of Levi would step into God’s work from age 30 upwards (Numbers 4:1-3). As at the age of 12, Jesus already had a sense of purpose and destiny (Luke 2:42-49).

God must indeed teach us to number our days so that we can attach significance to our lives and existence on the earth (Psalms 90:12). We must begin to operate in the wisdom of God to take the right decisions and steps per time. We must redeem (maximize, get the best out of) the time because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16).

We have got an eternal purpose that must be fulfilled in time. Don’t think you are still young or too old. Mary gave birth to Jesus around 15-17 years. David Killed Goliath as a youth (1 Samuel 17:33). Abraham stepped into Divine Promise after age 99 (Genesis 17:1). Caleb was a Mountain Taker at age 80 (Joshua 14:6-13).

Like Esther, we must understand that we are in the Kingdom for such a time as this (Esther 4:14). We must grow in alignment with the expectation of Heaven over our lives for each and every phase of our existence. We must not be dull of hearing. We must quit being childish when destiny is calling (1 Corinthians 13:11, Hebrews 5:12-14).
