A preacher addressed a men’s conference, where most attendees were businessmen. Initially, they were not listening, but when he said, “Your prayers aren’t answered because you’re not in agreement with your wives,” their attention snapped into focus. They began to listen intently. Indeed, there’s power in agreement.

Friend, there’s power in agreement (Job 41:17). One powerful way to receive speedy answers is the prayer of agreement. Sometimes, prayer is not a solo effort. It is a concerted effort. It is something done in agreement with others. When the right agreement is in place, nothing will be impossible (Matthew 18:19).

Marriage is a place to demonstrate the prayer of agreement (Genesis 2:24-25). When husbands and wives agree together in prayer over a matter, heaven gives attention, hell loses its hold (1 Peter 3:7). When a family gathers to pray on a matter, they activate the covenant of marriage.

One of the reasons the devil will fight unity in a marriage is because of answers to prayer (Amos 3:3). A lot of prayers are hindered today because many men don’t treat their wives well, and many wives don’t submit to their husbands. Love and submission are the keys to unity (Ephesians 5:21-28).

The Acts 12 church also gave us a powerful example of agreement in prayer (Acts 12:1-11). Herod would continue to wield evil influence in the church unless the church rises to pray in unity. Again, the reason the devil sponsors gossip, malice, backbiting, divisions, and all manner of in-fightings in the church is to weaken our prayer power (1 Corinthians 3:1-7).

If demons operate in network, why do church people walk alone (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)? Why don’t Christians call fellow Christians to agree with them in prayers? Why do we hide our challenges and try to manage them by ourselves until they get out of hand? Why do we keep fighting each other when we should be fighting the enemy? Agreement in prayer is everybody’s responsibility (Ephesians 4:3). Don’t be a loner. Don’t die in silence.
