On the eve of my birthday, my daughter asked me; “Daddy, there’s church service tomorrow. Who will pray for you in church?” I replied; “My spiritual father will pray for me in the morning, and the whole church will pray for me during the service.” She nodded in satisfaction. That simple conversation passed an important lesson; you need prayers.

Friend, prayer is an important component of a great destiny (Psalm 72:1-20). Really, you need all the prayers you can get to make significant progress in life and destiny. When prayer is lacking, destiny becomes slow, and failure is imminent. It is only fools who jettison prayer. You need to learn how to position yourself for prayers (Esther 4:16).

There are three ministries you must not joke with in your life; the ministry of an instructor, the ministry of an interpreter, and the ministry of an intercessor (Job 33:23). An instructor supplies you with relevant information and lessons for life and destiny. An interpreter helps you to make sense of your life and dealings with God. An intercessor bears you up in prayer (Colossians 4:12).

Despite how great Jesus’ destiny was, he needed the ministry of intercessors (Luke 2:25-40). Anna and Simeon gave themselves continually to prayer until Jesus was born. Jesus often asked His disciples to pray with Him. If Jesus did not survive on His own prayer alone, why do you think you would (Matthew 26:38)?

Like I told my daughter, you need the prayer of a father in your life. Like arrows, the prayers of a father shoot us into destiny (Psalm 127:3-5). No arrow is strong enough to shoot itself. You can have the gift, intelligence, and drive, but who’s going to shoot you? Who’s that person that bears you up in prayer (Luke 22:31-32)?

Nobody is too big to receive prayer from fellow Christians, especially the local church (2 Thessalonians 3:1). Sometimes, corporate prayers will do more in your life than personal prayer. If not for the prayers of the church, Peter would have died in prison. Don’t joke with the assembling of the saints (Hebrews 10:25). Don’t joke with your local church.
