Sometime ago, we had an artisan come to work for us in church. While discussing with someone, I overheard when he said something like; “I know pastor will not like this stuff. This is how he wants his job to be done.” That statement got me thinking and also reminded me of the need to be known for something.

Friend, what are you known for? The truth is, people are observing you more than you can imagine (Matthew 5:16). Even those who pretend not to notice you are secretly looking at you and observing you. They may not say it. But they are taking a cue from your lifestyle. This is why you need to live intentionally. This is why you need to be known for something. You need to stand for something (2 Timothy 1:12).

If you don’t stand for something, you would fall for everything (Acts 26:19). Don’t be a Christian that cannot be defined. When Daniel was to be persecuted by his enemies, they knew they would get him by his God. They knew Daniel for his devotion to God in prayers and fellowship. And they met in just there, praying as his custom was (Daniel 6:10).

What are your customs and practices (Mark 1:35)? What stands you out among others? In a bid to be socially relevant, be careful that you don’t lose your originality, essence, and excellence. God does not want us to conform (Romans 12:2). He wants us to command influence as we become transformed by His word.

Jehu was one of the characters in the Bible that is worth looking at. Jehu was known for his zeal. He won’t treat the things of God with levity. He had a zeal for God (2 Kings 10:16). People always noticed him when he’s around. There’s a way he drove. He could not be mistaken for someone else (2 Kings 9:20). What about you?

In a world where mediocrity seems to be the norm, just a little commitment to excellence would make you stand out (Daniel 6:3). When Daniel showed excellence in his work, his boss began to think about him. Go the extra mile. Do what others are not doing. Let people know you for something (1 Timothy 4:12). Leave your signature on anything and everything you come in contact with.
