I have this practice when visiting the banking hall or using the ATM. It is to always have a book with me and/or have my earpiece on as I plug in to a good teaching or music. This way, I don’t get pissed off by the delay. I’m always at rest. I have learnt how to manage my waiting season.
Friend, waiting is not wasting. Just like great things are produced with time, great destiny emerges with time. The difference between “Here” and “There” is letter “T” and that “T” stands for “Time”. The distance between your seed and your harvest is time (Genesis 8:22). Behind every “suddenly” of God is the patience of man (Luke 24:49, Acts 2:2).
You can get some things by faith but you would get most things by faith and patience (Hebrews 6:12). Most beautiful things in the Kingdom would come through patience. While Abraham got Ishmael by haste, Hannah got Samuel by patience (Genesis 16:1-16, 1 Samuel 1:20). The question is not; “Will you get it?” The question is; “How will you get it and from whom?”
Don’t respect a man with faith if you cannot see the evidence of patience in his faith (Hebrews 13:7). Short cut may appear a smart way but it would ultimately cut you short. There would be a time when your vision seems to be a lie; that is your season of waiting (Habakkuk 2:3). You must not force it to speak at this time, else, it becomes dumb forever.
Patience is not just about waiting. It is about what you do while you wait. You must understand the purpose of waiting so you won’t truncate what God is working. Waiting is meant to prepare you for what you are praying for. Waiting is to work out the necessary details around your expectations. Waiting is to mature your faith because it takes a mature faith to lead a lasting life (James 1:3-4).
In your waiting season, learn to judge God faithful (Hebrews 11:11). We can only have faith because God is faithful. Never let the devil misinterpret God’s nature and intention for you. Always judge God faithful. Rest assured that God knows what He is doing. Be convinced that He loves you and has your best interest at heart. He is too faithful to fail you (2 Timothy 2:13)!
