Recently, one of our folks in Church shared a testimony with us. According to her; “The week has been a tough one for me, especially financially. But I remember the word that God gave us in Church – I cannot be stranded. I began putting that word in my mouth. Not too long, God came through for me with streams of financial provisions.”
Friend, the prophetic word is the same force behind creation (Genesis 1:1-3). THE PROPHETIC WORD CREATED WHAT GOD WANTED TO SEE EVEN IN THE MIDST OF THE VOID AND SHAPELESSNESS AT CREATION. Just like God, you can learn to put God’s word in your mouth and speak it with God’s kind of faith to create what you want to see (Mark 11:12-14, 20-24).
THE FAITH OF GOD IS A SPEAKING FAITH, NOT A COMPLAINING FAITH. IT SPEAKS ITS EXPECTATION, NOT ITS EXPERIENCE. God’s word in your mouth will do the same thing it would have done if it were spoken by God. LEARN TO SPEAK LIKE GOD AND ACT LIKE GOD BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN CREATED IN HIS IMAGE. WHAT YOU DON’T WANT YOU DON’T WATCH, YOU SIMPLY CHANGE IT BY GOD’S WORD (Ezekiel 37:1-10).
How do you position yourself for a prophetic word? First, YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD FROM THE SCRIPTURES IS A MORE SURE WORD OF PROPHECY (2 Peter 1:19). It is not first about you going here and there looking for the word but closeting yourself with the Bible so the Holy Spirit can inspire it in your heart (Matthew 26:12, Luke 10:39).
You also need to position yourself around the anointed; men, meetings and moments. These are channels and vehicles of receiving the prophetic word. THERE ARE SOME MEETINGS YOU SHOULD NOT MISS, THERE ARE SOME MEN YOU MUST NOT JOKE WITH AND THERE ARE SOME MOMENTS YOU MUST NOT ALLOW TO PASS YOU BY. Don’t also joke with ‘casual’ men, moments and meetings. Your sensitivity is key.
You would also need to go out of your way to lay something down; a seed, a service. For Peter, it was his boat (Luke 5:3). For the widow, it was her last meal (1 Kings 17:8-15). For the woman of Shunem, it was her hospitality to the man of God (2 Kings 4:8-17). AS YOU ENCOUNTER YOUR PROPHETIC WORD, YOU NEED TO BELIEVE IT, CONFESS IT, WAR WITH IT AND TAKE CORRESPONDING ACTIONS (LUKE 1:45, 1 TIMOTHY 1:18, JAMES 1:22, HEBREWS 13:5-6).
