Some time ago, my daughter suddenly craved Suya. She talked about it all day. We were caught up with church programs, so I could not get it immediately. The next day, driving back tired from the office, I heard the Holy Spirit gently say, “Get your daughter some Suya.” I drove out of my way to buy it, and that night became Suya Night for the whole family. It taught me a deep lesson.
Friend, God is interested in the smallest matters of your life (Luke 12:7). What concerns you concerns Him. What gives you joy catches His attention, even if it seems unspiritual. If the same God who speaks to me about ministry can remind me about Suya for my daughter, then God truly cares about everything.
God desires balance in our lives. You can be holy and prosperous at the same time (Psalm 35:27). You can burn with passion for souls in remote villages and still desire a good vacation with your family in Dubai. One does not cancel the other. True spirituality is not one-sided; it embraces both consecration to God and joyful living on earth.
We are not called only to make heaven; we are also called to make the earth (Matthew 5:5). Some may say, “Souls are perishing, and you are eating Shawarma?” But what does enjoying Shawarma have to do with soul winning? Starving yourself of God’s goodness does not advance the Kingdom unless it is done with purpose and understanding.
Please, don’t feel guilty enjoying God’s best. God delights to see you happy (Psalm 35:27, 1 Timothy 6:17). Spiritual maturity is knowing how to balance God’s blessings with Kingdom commitment. When Jesus said, “Seek first the Kingdom,” He spoke of priority, not exclusivity (Matthew 6:33). Put God first, and enjoy all else.
Don’t arrive in heaven only to realize you cheated yourself on earth. The rich man in Luke 16 is a warning, but Lazarus is not our model either (Luke 16:19-22). God takes pleasure in caring for you (Psalm 16:11). He is not only concerned about big spiritual matters; He cares about all that concerns you (Matthew 6:32).
